In the startup2mittelstand format, the five companies STIHL, SEW, FESTO, Kärcher and Trumpf have joined forces to work on the challenge of "sustainability" with startups scouted by Gründermotor. The aim is to find suitable startups for each company to work together on a promising proof of concept to drive innovative solutions.

The exact focus is on the following key topics:

  • Climate neutrality at company level
  • CO2 rucksack of individual products
  • Social supply chains and responsible business
  • Circular economy
  • Emissions and (energy) efficiency in the use of products

After start-ups have been scouted in line with the companies' specific focus areas, the format ends with a Matchday in the form of a face-to-face event in Stuttgart.
The day revolves around the topic of sustainability, with researchers and experts from this field giving various inputs and the selected start-ups pitching themselves and their business model, and then taking part in a Q&A with the companies. Afterwards, the companies will have the opportunity to get to know the startups better in order to determine a potential fit.
