The R&D Management Conference is an annually held conference of the same academic journal investigating the full range of topics in research, development, design and innovation, and related strategic and human resource issues. The track was held on Wednesday 7th of July 2021. Within this track, Philipp Häßler presented his original research related to emerging technology commercialization. In particular, this study aims to integrate a technology view on prior work done in this field. By integrating this viewpoint, one is able to highlight the most researched aspects related to different categories of technologies. Prior work on emerging technology commercialization has focused on market and firm activities influencing this process. Emerging technologies are technologies that have a high degree of inherent uncertainty in both technology development and market application. He argued that in this early stage of development, technology aspects strongly shape the commercialization trajectory.
