Q-Club2: Science transfer for business and society
The aim of the Q-Club2 project is to make the enormous potential of quantum sensor research visible beyond the boundaries of science and to transfer it into economic and social applications. The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI) is playing a key role in this together with the future cluster partners and the NXTGN initiative.
The sub-project E4F-Q: Elements4Founding for Quantum focuses on the interface between research and entrepreneurship and specifically addresses early career researchers, doctoral students and postdocs. The aim is to strengthen their skills in the areas of innovation and transfer and thus pave the way from basic research to successful application.
Our activities in focus
E4F-Q builds on the experience of the Elements4Founding project and comprises three central focal points that are tailored to the special requirements of quantum sensor technology:
- RISE workshop series: in modular formats such as Business Model Development, Pitch Training or Intellectual Property, we impart entrepreneurial know-how and promote the idea of transfer and interdisciplinarity. The Research, Innovation, Science, and Entrepreneurship workshop series will start in the first half of 2025 and is open to researchers from all disciplines.
- InTCapQ (Innovation and Transfer Capabilities for Quantum): We are developing this new module in 2025 specifically to support researchers from the QSENS future cluster in commercializing their technologies and accessing relevant markets.
- Incubation: As part of the QCLUB-2 project, the NXTGN initiative is developing the “Quantum Venture Labs” incubator program, which will provide long-term support for researchers as they work towards market maturity and give them access to the startup ecosystem.
Best practice SpinMagIC: from research to market maturity
The importance of such measures is impressively demonstrated by the example of the start-up SpinMagIC, which is closely linked to quantum sensor research. Through the successful transfer of scientific findings, the founders of SpinMagIC are developing a quantum sensor that is not only technically innovative, but also economically forward-looking.The founders have been participating in the EXIST research transfer funding program since October 2024.
Their path illustrates how important it is to provide scientists with targeted support for their start-up projects - an approach that we would like to further strengthen as part of E4F-Q.

A successful start at ZAQuant
The kick-off meeting at ZAQuant was not only a platform to present new projects and plan the next steps, but also an inspiring exchange with all partners of the cluster. We would like to thank the representatives of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts and Project Management Jülich for the valuable exchange of experiences. We would also like to thank the Vector Foundation, which supports the Elements4Founding project and enables its further development, as well as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which supports the QCLUB-2 project as part of the QSENS future cluster.
We look forward to continuing the success story of quantum sensor technology with Q-Club2 and E4F-Q - and to further strengthening the bridge between science and practice together with a dedicated team of researchers, companies and institutions.
Here's to an exciting and successful second funding phase!
