Seminar module

In this seminar, students will work on current research trends and topics in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship to sharpen their own quantitative research skills.

The competence field is completed with the English-language "Entrepreneurship Research Seminar", which will be offered every semester starting in the summer semester 2022. In this seminar, students will work on current research trends and topics in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. The main objectives are an in-depth look into empirical-analytical methods, the successful development of one's research project, and the ability to implement it effectively.

In this seminar, students bring their interest and knowledge about current innovation and entrepreneurship research trends. This interest will be combined with appropriate research methods, where participants can conduct their research project (individually or in teams, depending on the number of participants and their backgrounds). The seminar focuses on quantitative research and its implementation using open source software, which students will learn to use over the its course.

The overall aim is that students understand how to set up a research project and conduct the research effectively.

The main topics covered are:

  • Objectives and purposes of innovation and entrepreneurship research
  • Current trends and topics
  • Overview of specific research methods, which can be qualitative, quantitative or experimental in nature
  • Conducting and interpreting scientific analyses
  • Introduction to the methods of literature research
  • Assignments on specific research topics, typically literature reviews

The seminar ideally serves as preparation for a project or master thesis at the institute.
