University of Stuttgart follow-up certified as Young Entrepreneurs in Science Campus

April 5, 2023

"Young Entrepreneurs in Science Campus" is a certificate developed by the Falling Walls Foundation that recognizes partner institutions that are working to increase entrepreneurship in science and research through their participation in the initiative.

Following successful certification in 2021 for the "Young Entrepreneurs in Science Campus" certificate of the Falling Walls Foundation initiative of the same name, the University of Stuttgart achieved follow-up certification in March. This distinguishes the University of Stuttgart as a partner institution of the initiative, which promotes more entrepreneurship in science and research.

The fulfillment of the quality criteria shows that the intended close coupling of research and transfer at the University of Stuttgart is progressing successfully. To be certified as "Young Entrepreneurs in Science Campus" for the third consecutive year is an expression of the sustained commitment to start-up awareness at the award-winning university or research institution. Prof. Peter Middendorf, Vice Rector for Knowledge and Technology Transfer of the University of Stuttgart, says: "Knowledge transfer at the University of Stuttgart means having a direct impact on society and the public. This also includes the courage to transfer - we share this spirit with the YES initiative. The fact that we were once again able to qualify for certification as a Young Entrepreneurs in Science Campus shows us that we are on the right track with our transfer strategy, constantly developing our formats and generating a real impact through dialog with young researchers that serves the common good."

Prof. Alexander Brem, Start-up Officer at the University of Stuttgart, says: "With Young Entrepreneurs in Science, we at the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research share the mission of awakening the entrepreneurial spirit in young researchers. Like the initiative, we want to sensitize, qualify and encourage  - for example in the Elements4Founding project  - to consider a start-up as a possible career path. A strong network is essential for this. For us, being recertified as a Young Entrepreneurs in Science Campus is a confirmation and consolidation of our long-standing and strong partnership with the Falling Walls Foundation. We look forward to continuing to develop and implement joint offerings and trainings with the YES initiative in the future."
