RISE Kick-off inspires many young scientists

October 12, 2023

The second edition of the RISE workshop series, which was developed by the Elements4Founding project at the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research (ENI) at the University of Stuttgart, started on 11 October 2023. The first edition of RISE at the beginning of 2023 was already able to inspire those interested in founding and curious academics - especially doctoral students and post-docs - for the topic of founding and open up initial points of reference and contact for them.

The kick-off took place hybrid and was opened by Prof. Dr. Alexander Brem, Head of the Institute and Founding Officer of the University of Stuttgart. Afterwards, the Elements4Founding project team presented the content and organisation of the modular workshop series.

Participants in the total of eight modules can look forward to a wide variety of content - from team building and design thinking, to the sustainability hackathon sustain(ATHON) and social entrepreneurship, to strategic management, (science) communication and intellectual property. The network partners of the Elements4Founding project, who are involved in the workshop series, also introduced themselves and opened up further opportunities to join in. A highlight of the event was the mini-workshop "Impactful Research" with Dr. Inma Aleixos Borrás, which provided exciting ideas on how to achieve impact with research. At the end, there was a Q&A session and the opportunity for participants to further exchange and network.

About RISE

RISE aims to help researchers create start-ups and scientific breakthroughs with sustainable impact through innovative ideas. It promises diverse perspectives and inspiration for future researchers and innovators.

To achieve this goal, a strong network is necessary: RISE is supported by the Vector Foundation, which funds the Elements4Founding project and makes it possible to offer the workshops free of charge. In addition, the three-person project team works closely with experts from the University of Stuttgart network and beyond. These include, for example, the Design Factory Stuttgart, the Transfer Centre 'TRACES' as well as the Graduate Academy of the University of Stuttgart, the Young Entrepreneurs in Science Initiative of the Falling Walls Foundation, and the Gründermotor.

The Elements4Founding team would like to thank the numerous participants and interested parties who attended the event or joined online.

On Thursday, 19 October, from 13:00-16:00, the workshop "Teambuilding & Idea Baseline" will take place in hybrid form - registration by email is requested and possible until 17 October: e4f@eni.uni-stuttgart.de.
