Minister of Science visits founder café frei[raum] at the University of Stuttgart

April 4, 2024

Petra Olschowski visited the Campus Vaihingen on March 28.

In the student-operated founder café frei[raum] on the Vaihingen campus of the University of Stuttgart, the advisory and support services for knowledge-based start-ups at the university were presented to Minister of Science Petra Olschowski during her visit.

Dr. Andreas Wahl, Head of Teaching at the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI), presented the services of ENI, which are designed to raise awareness among students, PhD students and postdocs about entrepreneurship and the possible career paths it can lead to.

The wide range of courses is therefore low-threshold and interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and internationally oriented: The teaching formats are anchored in the curriculum as competence fields in some degree programs, while the FÜSQs offered by the ENI also appeal to students from the humanities, engineering and STEM fields.

The project Elements4Founding was launched for young academics with the support of the Vector Foundation: Elements4Founding aims to strengthen the awareness and promotion of entrepreneurship at the University of Stuttgart and is targeted specifically at PhD students and postdocs interested in founding a company. An essential part of this is the interdisciplinary cooperation with network partners such as the Clusters of Excellence ICM and IntCDC, the Falling Walls Foundation, QSENS and many others.

The Stuttgarter Weg - bringing together and networking different disciplines - is therefore an important part of the ENI's teaching program.

Once the idea of entrepreneurship has been sparked, the TRACES, Transfer Center of the University of Stuttgart, and the TTI provide support in its further development - initial consultations and start-up coaching help students and young academics to successfully pursue their ideas and visions.

With its strong teaching and research on entrepreneurship, the networking of various degree programs and stakeholders, the interdisciplinary orientation and the support funnel from low-threshold offers to start-up coaching, the ENI promotes the entrepreneurial mindset and knowledge transfer at the University of Stuttgart.
