University professors meet to discuss entrepreneurship and innovation

April 24, 2024

This week, the "Gründermotor Startup Research Dinner" brought together professors from universities and colleges in Baden-Württemberg who conduct research on entrepreneurship and innovation for the second time. This year, the event was held at the TRIANGEL Space in Karlsruhe in collaboration with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), one of the central academic partners of the Gründermotor initiative.

A special addition to this year's meeting was the kick-off meeting of the newly established "Research Transfer Brainpool". Before the official dinner evening, the professors gathered in the TRIANGEL Studio to launch the expert group. The aim of the meeting was to establish a platform that promotes a more intensive transfer of research-based findings on entrepreneurship and innovation in politics and business.

In addition to culinary delights, the dinner also offered professional inspiration. Dr. Eric Heintze (Gründermotor) and Prof. Dr. Orestis Terzidis (KIT) opened the event with welcoming words. Terzidis, head of the KIT Institute EnTechnon, also shared exciting insights into entrepreneurship research at KIT and emphasized the importance of university research for practical start-up activities. The presentations by Fang Wilhelm born Dong and Sarah I. Manthey (both KIT) introduced the participants to KIT's activities regarding start-ups and intrapreneurship. They presented current projects and initiatives aimed at further strengthening and networking the innovation ecosystem at KIT. The evening was concluded with an input from Dr. Rubina Zern-Breuer (University of Stuttgart) and Thomas Neumann (KIT) with an update and an outlook on the joint application for the Startup Factory competition.

The feedback was consistently positive. Many emphasized the importance of personal exchange and networking, which is made possible by the work of Gründermotor. The launch of the research transfer brain pool also met with a positive response.
