- Please briefly introduce yourself and your current job.
My name is Tobias Dürr and I have been Innovation Manager at Cyber Valley (https://cyber-valley.de) since May 2020. Previously, I was head of the startup project "Let US elevate!" at the University of Stuttgart. Cyber Valley is the largest research collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence in Europe. Part of this initiative are, among others, the University of Stuttgart, the University of Tübingen, the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and numerous companies. As an innovation manager, it is my job to help make research results from Cyber Valley available to society, e.g. in the form of spin-offs by scientists. I also bring together AI startups and AI research within the "Cyber Valley Startup Network". My workplace is located at the chair of Prof. Brem in the ARENA2036.
- How did you get involved in entrepreneurship?
In April 2019, I became the project manager of "Let US elevate!" at the University of Stuttgart. The goal of the project is to bring together exciting ideas from research with students who are enthusiastic about founding companies. In addition, I have generally taken care of advancing the startup culture at the University of Stuttgart and supporting university startups.
- What tip would you give to students who are enthusiastic about founding a company, who are currently thinking about founding a company or who have already taken the first steps towards self-employment?
Take advantage of the opportunities that the University of Stuttgart offers students interested in starting a business! There are now many exciting offers and the opportunity is perhaps unique in your life.
