Review 1st INИO FESTIVAL BW

July 27, 2021

On July 15, 2021, the startup ecosystem from Baden-Württemberg came together to the motto: Innovation starts with you! 1 keynote speaker, 3 experts at the Expert Talk, 35 experienced speakers, 11 trendsetting startups, 11 interactive spotlight sessions, 11 discussion-rich open tables, the earliest early night show, beertasting, live music and more than 300 festival participants shaped the day.

Keynote on student app and expert talk on disruptive innovation

The start of the INИO FESTIVAL BW was made by the co-founder of Knowunity, Benedict Kurz with his exciting keynote about the founding of the startup. He saw the selection of investors as one of the most important points for the success of the startup: "You should find someone who shares the vision exactly the same way with you and not just invest based on some KPIs".

The inspiring keynote transitioned into the Expert Talk on "How the disruptive enters the world" with Theresia Bauer, the Minister of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg, CureVac co-founder Ingmar Hoerr and Barbara Diehl, Chief Partnership Officer of the Federal Agency for Leap Innovations (SPRIN-D). The three speakers were in agreement on one thing: Innovations must be further promoted in order to strengthen Baden-Württemberg's innovative power.

Interactive Spotlight Sessions, Startup Presentations & Open Tables

The festival continued with the Spotlight Sessions format: selected representatives of our partner network such as Novatec, Bosch, Mahle and many others had prepared exciting inputs on selected topics such as the mental health of employees, AIoT or vehicle air conditioning of the future. Through the interactive format, the festival visitors were involved and could discuss their opinion on the topics. "Super event and great contributions", said one voice.

In entertaining presentations of the startup teams via video, the participants were then able to get to know the teams of Meisterklasse#5 in a completely new way. If interest was aroused, possible questions could be asked directly to the startups in the first round of the Open Tables.

During the second and third round of Open Tables, it was possible to discuss and network on further, exciting topics.

The end of the festival: Early Night Show, Live Music & Beertasting

Entertainment was provided by Vivian Loftin, co-founder of Recyda and Tobias Rieker, co-founder of Markt-Pilot. After a short early night show talk, the mystery of the format was solved: pitch karaoke with previously drawn terms as well as the topics "portable phone booth" and "underwater towel". "And, have you licked unicorn blood yet?", the winner Vivian ended her talk and thus solved with bravura the difficult task to accommodate "unicorn blood" meaningfully in the pitch.

The event was rounded off with live music by the band Bölter and a joint beertasting by Kraftpaule with guests from the business world.

The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science actively supports the Gründermotor in the implementation of such formats, especially in communication.
