Business Angel Investments in Stuttgart

May 19, 2021

Business angels are a serious source of financing for early-stage startups. A business angel not only supports financially, but also with their know-how and network.

The event took place on 18.05.2021, with the aim to familiarize current and former EXIST funded teams with the topic of Business Angel Investment. The lecture was organized as part of the startupcampus0711 support program for EXIST funded teams, by the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research (ENI) and the Startup Center of the HdM, supported by TTI GmbH.

"It is very important for our startup prospects to know about business angels in the region at an early stage. Above all, their expertise and networks on markets and industries is often worth more than their financial commitment," says Prof. Alexander Brem, head of ENI.

The Business Angels of the Stuttgart Region invest in early-stage startups across all industries. The amount of financing is between €200k - €1 million. Often, several business angels invest under the leadership of a lead investor. Successful investments in the past were for example immatics, eGym and Rezemo. The relationship between startups and business angels is characterized by personal exchange. Business angels support startups with their network and know-how and often have a very personal motivation to invest in a startup. Since business angels invest with their private assets, they differ from other financiers such as VCs. Accordingly, it is important that startups and business angels exchange ideas intensively in order to enable a positive cooperation.
