Appreciation is an important factor in collaboration. It helps to motivate employees and colleagues. It is important that it is expressed as targeted, sincere recognition. In contrast, empty phrases, such as inflationary praise without reference, quickly wear out. In the English-speaking world in particular, the term “kudos” is commonly used for consciously acknowledging appreciation. The ancient Greek word κῦδος (kydos) stands for “glory” or “praiseworthy success”. If a manager says: “Kudos to my team”, she is saying that she thinks her team has done a really good job.
