Ideation Campus - Innovation at your fingertips

June 29, 2022

On Friday, June 24, the Ideation Campus took place as part of the 2nd Stuttgart Science Festival in the City Hall of Stuttgart. For the startup campus 0711, this event was the long-awaited event kick-off since the start of the project in 2020. Accordingly, the stakeholders and partners involved were delighted to finally gather the Stuttgart ecosystem live and on site.

"It is thanks to the commitment of the city of Stuttgart that this event could take place in this form in the large conference hall and on the roof terrace of the city hall," emphasized Professor Alexander Brem in his welcoming speech. The Ideation Campus aimed to make visible how research can be put into practice, how innovations, startups and social progress can emerge from it.

On the one hand, the Ideation Campus offered the opportunity to visit some of the players in Stuttgart's startup ecosystem at their booths and find out about the services they offer to support prospective founders.

Another pillar of the event was the Research Circle, in which students of the Master of Media Research at the Hochschule der Medien presented their final theses interactively at their booths. This round was supplemented by a startup circle enlivened by teams from Stuttgart's universities, who presented their ideas there.

Innovation zum Anfassen

This interactive fair was complemented by a varied stage program, through which our moderator Sven Schneider led entertainingly. First and foremost by the Science Slam of the participating startups. The teams from Proservation, Cyclize, Semanux, Print to Scan and Reminisce.io competed against each other. All teams had the goal to explain their startup idea in an entertaining way and to convince the audience in 7 minutes. Team Cyclize came out on top and Dominik Novakovic was able to take home a backpack for his team with lots of colorful gimmicks from all the players involved - including a ticket to the coveted EXPO from our partner Startup Autobahn.

Sciece Slam

Now that the startup teams had demonstrated their skills, the partners were also allowed to take the stage in a 2-minute pitch and present their offerings for founders. Last but not least, the university prize of the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation was ceremoniously awarded by Nico Bühler and Andreas Chatzis. The team Plant Survivor was happy about the 3rd place. Cyclize was able to secure 2nd place and the Proservation team was the winner of 2500 €. The supervising university of the most innovative university startup, the Hochschule der Medien represented by Johanna Kutter from the Generator Startup Center, was also honored with a prize.

Hochschulpreis der Wirtschaftsförderung der Region Stuttgart

For the last part of the event, the visitors gathered on the roof terrace of the city hall and finished the evening with finger food, drinks and music by our DJ &kesseln.

The event was designed by the startup campus 0711 with its main stakeholders of the Hochschule der Medien and the University of Stuttgart, as well as the partner institutions, the Master of Media Research, the Technology Transfer Initiative, the University of Hohenheim, the Gründermotor, START Stuttgart e.V., ASAP BW, the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences, the ARENA2036, the Startup Autobahn, the Economic Development Agency of the Stuttgart Region, and supported by the Economic Development Agency of the State Capital Stuttgart.
