Apply now: sustain(ATHON) for students and scientists

July 31, 2023

Effects of increasing global warming and its devastating consequences for the environment, society and economy pose an unprecedented challenge to humanity. To contribute to the solution, we would like to invite students and researchers from all disciplines to participate in sustain(ATHON) 2023 and develop innovative solutions in interdisciplinary teams.

sustain(ATHON) is a two-day challenge and will take place on 30-31 October 2023 in the Research Campus building on the Vaihingen campus (Pfaffenwaldring 19, 70569). All students and academic staff at the University of Stuttgart can take part - irrespective of their subject area or level of experience; registration is possible with a team or individually.

During the kick-off by the organising partners on the first day, the challenges will be presented - afterwards, the teams will have more than 43 hours to develop an idea, a concept and a prototype based on it, which they will present on the second day in the afternoon. They will receive support from experienced coaches and mentors as well as the opportunity to participate in short input sessions and mini-workshops.

In addition to attractive prize money, which will be awarded to the first, second and third place teams, there are other good reasons to participate in sustain(ATHON). All participants will gain important experiences and future skills, exchange perspectives and ideas, and work on connectable ideas over a short period of time, which will be supported by the partners.

concept.design.code.win - in order to emerge as the winning team from the competition, it is not only the prototype that is decisive: our jury of interdisciplinary experts evaluates fairly and on the basis of predefined evaluation categories who can take home the prize money!

All participants will receive a personal certificate of participation after completing the sustain(ATHON). In addition, students have the opportunity to take the hackathon through the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research (ENI) and receive 3 ECTS in the area of FÜSQ.

Organisation:

The organisers of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI), the Informatikverbund Stuttgart (IVS), the CampusHochi project, the Green Office and the ARENA2036 e.V. provide exciting challenges to choose from.

The idea originated from previous initiatives and events of the partners, for example the hackathon "WHAT THE HÄCK" (ARENA2036), the climate (HACKATHON) (CampusHochi, IVS, Green Office) and the FÜSQ "Startup Planspiel Hackathon" course of the ENI, which was popular with students in previous years.
