Dr. Giones ist Akademischer Rat und stellvertretender Direktor des Instituts für Entrepreneurship und Innovationsforschung. Er erhielt den BBA & MBA von der ESADE Business School und promovierte an der La Salle - Ramon-Llull-Universität, beide in Barcelona, Spanien. Bevor er in die akademischen Welt ging, arbeitete er in der Strategieberatung und im internationalen Projektmanagement. Vor seiner Tätigkeit an der Universität Stuttgart war er Assistenzprofessor für Technology Entrepreneurship an der University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Sonderborg (Dänemark).

Sein Forschungsgebiet ist technology entrepreneurship und industry emergence, wo er sich mit den faszinierenden Fragen beschäftigt, wie und wann der technologische Fortschritt unternehmerische Aktivitäten auslöst und wie sich diese unternehmerischen Aktivitäten in nachhaltige Organisationen verwandeln, die zum sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Wachstum beitragen. Er lehrt zu den Themen technology entrepreneurship und technology innovation management.
