From 3 to 17 June, the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI) at the University of Stuttgart had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Bernd Wurth, Senior Lecturer at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. The visit was supported by the InnovationCampus Future Mobility (ICM) through a Short-term Grant for International Collaboration. We thank the ICM for this opportunity.
Bernd Wurth's research examines the dynamics of entrepreneurship and innovation, spanning entrepreneurial ecosystems, entrepreneurial universities and academic entrepreneurship, as well as entrepreneurial strategy and decision-making from a systems-thinking perspective. These themes resonate strongly with the work carried out at our institute, especially in the DEEM research project. The shared interests made it an especially productive exchange.
During his stay, Bernd Wurth engaged with the ICM by sharing his approach to modelling and simulating entrepreneurial ecosystems using complex systems methods, drawing on his ongoing study with UK data. Another session explored how the project data collected within the ICM could feed into a simulation of the innovation campus's future evolution and its impact on the surrounding innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
During his stay Bernd Wurth was also giving a research seminar at ENI, presenting his ongoing work on the microfoundations and reputation as a transformative link in entrepreneurial ecosystems, alongside methodological advances (including simulation) for detecting emergent patterns over time.
We had many fruitful discussions on current and future research projects, and the entire ENI team is very grateful to have had the opportunity to welcome Bernd Wurth here.
