A brief description
Every day, we all receive letters from authorities, universities, health insurance companies, etc. Brifle is developing an app to send and receive these documents digitally, sign them legally and pay bills.
The background of the development
While he was still at school, Marvin (CEO) wondered how the German state could be digitalized in a similar way to Denmark, Estonia and Sweden.
Since graduating from high school in 2018, Marvin has been working on how to abolish bureaucracy in Germany. However, this topic dragged on and on due to the GDPR, updated laws and the coronavirus pandemic, and he couldn't get it out of his head. Mail from the university, broadcasting fees, student grants and more kept landing in his letterbox.
With his goal of founding a company, he participated in the ENI key qualification (SQ) AWAKE - In a few weeks to a startup (the SQ takes place every semester, registration starts on September 2). This is where he met his co-founder Andreas, with whom he has since overcome a number of bureaucratic hurdles and pivots. Nevertheless, the focus was the same: letters should only be sent digitally. Starting with SMEs, then public utilities and health insurance companies, their focus is now on cities and municipalities. The team has now reached the point where they will be piloting with local authorities this year in July in order to make it widely available afterwards. In future, the University of Stuttgart will also use their application to send documents to students digitally in order to do away with letters. Their vision: the letterbox should be a thing of the past.
What was the biggest challenge for you last year?
The lack of a legal basis that hindered the concept and the adaptation of the primary target group.
Tips for founders / What would you do differently today?
Commitment is everything: If you are looking for co-founders, you should first and foremost ask about the person's motivation.
Area of application
Digital document dispatch with subsequent processing, i.e. payment of invoices, setting legally binding signatures and simplification of legal texts, as well as their translation.
