At the invitation of Christian Walsh of the University of Canterbury, Prof. Brem will spend the upcoming winter semester in Christchurch City—known in Māori as Ōtautahi. He has been appointed an Erskine Fellowship, a program designed to foster structured collaboration with international academics and institutions. His stay is scheduled from early October 2025 to early February 2026.
This marks Prof. Brem’s first research sabbatical since joining the University of Stuttgart in January 2020, as well as his first such semester overall. During his absence, his teaching responsibilities, supervision of academic theses, and administrative duties at the institute will be assumed by the institute’s leadership team and beyond. He will, however, continue to fulfill his role as Vice-Rector for Transfer and International Affairs.
