MarTec Photonics receives EXIST Business Start-up Grant

May 11, 2020

"MarTec Photonics" has developed unique laser optics based on the principle of "resonant grating waveguides".

Today, it is impossible to imagine everyday life without laser radiation as a tool, e.g. in production or medical technology. The advantages of a wear-free, high-precision tool that can be used for many materials are obvious. However, current demands on production processes or improved medical procedures require improved laser beam sources - in this context, an increase in pulse energies and average output power are particularly important.

Conventional components used in the construction of common laser beam sources reach their limits here and stand in the way of increasing pulse energies and average output power. This applies, for example, to components for stabilizing the polarization and/or wavelength of the emitted radiation. Likewise, this applies to components used for spatial stabilization of the beam or dispersion control.

"MarTec Photonics" has developed unique laser optics based on the principle of "resonant grating waveguides".

These allow very flexible use in a wide variety of laser beam sources and also in the subsequent beam path. They allow highly efficient stabilization of polarization and/or wavelength or can be used for dispersion control. Thus, the next generation of laser beam sources can be realized for the currently required and future processes in production technology or medical technology.

The start-up project is supported by Prof. Dr. Thomas Graf and the Institute für Strahlwerkzeuge at the University of Stuttgart and funded by an EXIST Business Start-up Grant.
