Innovations from quantum science: ENI at the Quantum Effects fair with QCLUB-2

On October 7 and 8, the QCLUB-2 project – coordinated by the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI) as part of the QSENS – The Power of Quantum Sensing cluster – participated in this year’s Quantum Effects trade fair in Stuttgart. The QSENS cluster presented itself together with QuantumBW at a shared booth, showcasing current scientific and transfer activities in the field of quantum sensing.

Quantum Breakfast: Knowledge Meets Networking

A particular highlight was the Quantum Breakfast on October 7, jointly organized by QSENS, NXTGN, and CODE_n. This exclusive side event brought together start-ups, researchers, and industry representatives to discuss current developments and real-world applications of quantum technologies.

In various table sessions – covering topics such as Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication & Security, Quantum Sensing, Photonics & Integrated Optics, Simulation & Modeling, and Semiconductors – participants exchanged insights on science, practice, and market potential. Table Captains included Prof. Dr. Jens Anders (University of Stuttgart, IIS and QSENS), Dr. Matthias Zimmermann (DLR), and Dr. Muhammad Saeed (ARENA2036).

The goal of the format was to connect key stakeholders from science, industry, and entrepreneurship to jointly shape the future of quantum technologies – from theory to application.

QSENS Cluster Project Status Meeting

As part of Quantum Effects, the semi-annual QSENS Cluster Project Status Meeting also took place. Representatives of all subprojects came together to discuss current progress, challenges, and planned activities.

The QCLUB-2 project presented its ongoing and upcoming initiatives – including measures to strengthen knowledge transfer between science, industry, and society, as well as formats promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of quantum technologies. The QCLUB-2 project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) as part of the QSENS Cluster4Future.

Spinoff SpinMagIC showing Quantum Effects: Innovation from Stuttgart

A special example of successful start-up creation and technology transfer is SpinMagIC, which presented its second prototype at Quantum Effects. The spin-off from the University of Stuttgart develops compact quantum sensors capable of measuring the shelf life of substances such as food, lubricants, or pharmaceutical products.

The founding team – Dr. Michele Segantini, Jakob Fitschen, Belal Alnajjar, and Anh Chu – is supported by ENI, TTI GmbH, TRACES, and the NXTGN state initiative, and is firmly embedded in Stuttgart’s start-up ecosystem. We are particularly proud that SpinMagIC is part of ENI’s RISE alumni network, exemplifying the successful journey from academic science to real-world application.

The Quantum Effects trade fair is recognized as a leading international exhibition and conference for application-oriented quantum technologies. From October 7–8, 2025, international experts, start-ups, companies, and policymakers gathered in Stuttgart to discuss the latest trends and developments and to foster global collaboration within the quantum ecosystem.
