Information Systems M.Sc. starts in winter semester 2022/23: Entrepreneurship as elective subject

May 25, 2022

The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research is helping to expand the range of courses offered at the University of Stuttgart and is also represented in the new "Information Systems M.Sc.".

Starting with the upcoming winter semester 2022/23, the competence field "Entrepreneurship" with its three modules will be available to the students of the new master program "M.Sc. Information Systems".

Module 1 (6 LP; Language: German)

The two courses (lecture and exercise) "Entrepreneurship: From R&D to Start-Up" of the first module are offered every winter semester. In this course, students learn about the most important issues surrounding the start-up process of R&D-oriented companies. The phase-specific aspects and tasks that arise in the context of entrepreneurship are highlighted. The lecture focuses on the scientific fundamentals, while the tutorial practically addresses the involvement of entrepreneurs and the associated partners in the ecosystem.

Module 2 (6 LP; language: German and English)

Every summer semester, the lecture "Entrepreneurial Finance" from the second module of our competence fields is offered. In this course, the challenges with regard to the financing of new businesses and start-ups are presented and discussed in detail. In addition, students have the option to choose between two different exercises (the exercises are offered every semester). The goal is for students to elaborate and understand the start-up process from a market-driven perspective ("Market-driven Entrepreneurship") or from a technological perspective ("Technology-driven Entrepreneurship").

Seminar module (6 LP; language: English)

The competence field "Entrepreneurship" is rounded off with the English-language "Entrepreneurship Seminar", which is offered every semester. In this seminar, students work on current research trends and topics in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. The main goal is the in-depth teaching of empirical-analytical methods, the successful development of an own research project and the ability to realize it effectively.
