Science Transfer
The paper “Science transfer: From knowledge transfer to industry evolution” by Alexander Brem and Petra Nylund provide the theoretical background for our work in the IntCDC project. It defines science transfer as all processes that bring a scientific discovery nearer large-scale market adoption. Then a framework for research and practice is developed through integrating the literatures on knowledge transfer, technology readiness, technology transfer, organizational scaling, and industry evolution.
Dominant designs
The paper “Regulatory drivers of technology transitions: Evidence from electric leisure boating” by Christian Kehn, Petra Nylund, and Alexander Brem has been developed from an ENI thesis project. It derives mechanisms for the emergence of sustainable dominant designs based on an empirical study of separate shipping regulations for different waterways within a wider regulatory framework.
Evolving standards
Finally, “Evolving standards: The role of continuous standardization for dominant designs and enabling technologies” by Petra Nylund, Geerten van de Kaa, and Alexander Brem is a joint project with TU Delft which was initiated during the previous EURAS conference. It studies how changes in standards influence innovation following the emergence of a dominant design, with a quantitative analysis of citations to ISO standards from patents.
