Entrepreneurial Ecosystems Research Spring School 2024 – A review

May 22, 2024

The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Science (ENI) hosted this year's Entrepreneurial Ecosystems Research Spring School at the University of Stuttgart from May 13 to 15, 2024.

The three-day event provided a unique opportunity for early career researchers to network, collaborate and exchange research ideas with other scientists working on the configuration, mechanisms and evolutionary dynamics of start-up ecosystems. A total of 60 people from various European countries as well as New Zealand and Qatar took part.

The visit to the Stuttgart Spring Festival on Sunday evening was a nice start to three exciting seminar days. Even before the official opening on Monday afternoon, the two method workshops "System Dynamics & Agent-Based Modeling" by Bernd Wurth (University of Glasgow) and "Web Scraping & Social Networks" by Grégory Gueneau (Adalia Institute) took place. Friederike Welter (University of Siegen and IfM Bonn) officially opened the Entrepreneurial Ecosystems Research School with her keynote speech "Memories, Buildings, People and Power: Revisiting Entrepreneurial Places".

A special highlight on the second day was the gala dinner at Vector Informatik, which began with a welcome address and an inspiring talk by Helmut Schelling under the motto "Entrepreneurship lived".

The interactive workshop "The Future of EE Research - Towards a Policy-Oriented Research Agenda" by Andreas Kuckertz (University of Hohenheim) was a great conclusion to the Entrepreneurial Ecosystems Research Spring School.

A total of 40 exciting presentations were given by doctoral students and postdocs, complemented by 4 interesting plenary sessions and a meet-the-editors session.

We are pleased that this year's Entrepreneurial Ecosystems Research Spring School brought together renowned researchers and early career researchers and thus strengthened the expertise in the field of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems.

Many thanks to all those involved who made this event possible. Special thanks go to the sponsors Péter Horváth Stiftung, VECTOR Informatik GmbH, Gründermotor, SOCIETY FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES LIMITED(THE), Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart and LabEx Entreprendre.
