‘You learn from your mistakes’ is a factor in a sustainable and optimisable work attitude. A culture of error refers to the cultivated handling of failure. A good culture of error makes it possible to learn from failure and improve processes. It requires critical thinking on an individual level and a willingness to develop further, and it requires psychological safety within the group. If a culture of error is not well developed, performance and productivity can suffer: for example, people may be hesitant to make decisions for fear of the consequences of their mistakes and work overly cautiously to avoid errors. On the other hand, if the same mistakes are made repeatedly without learning from them, this is also a poor culture of error.
